Université Clermont Auvergne (UCA) is a multidisciplinary higher education institution located in Auvergne, a territory lying in the heart of the Massif Central that combines rural areas with a wide range of industries, from SMEs to international groups. The university is composed of 20 faculties, 5 doctoral schools and 38 research laboratories working in the fields of fundamental and engineering sciences, life and health sciences as well as law, human and social sciences. With 35 000 students, including 4 600 (13%) international ones and 3 300 staff, it plays a key role in the territorial structuration and the building of a European level region. UCA will be participating in this project on behalf of its Joint Research Unit, Laboratoire de Physique de Clermont (LPC), associated to UCA and Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique. The research activity of the “Health and Environment “department at LPC is gathering scientific skills related to modelling and simulation in particle and medical physics together with chemistry, chemical physics, plasma physics and biology for a better understanding of fundamental mechanisms and processes leading to radiological risks to microorganisms and populations.
